Spirit in Season Retreat
Do you remember in your youth when you mother told you to act your age? The message was: to reconcile your emotional with your physical selves. But what if we feel a disparity between the two? Each age in life has its own passages and expectations. Sometimes we feel older than we are. Sometimes we feel more creative, adventuresome, intellectual, or spiritually connected than society assumes we’ll be at our particular age. We approach some points of the journey with joy—sweet sixteen—others with fear and trepidation—menopause. We often look back with longing or regret and look forward with longing or anxiety.
How do we live in the moment? How do we enjoy and embrace our own selves at whatever decade we find ourselves? Nationally acclaimed writer Mary Swander will conduct a one-day retreat focused on welcoming the spirit in season. We will seek to center and ground ourselves in our own stage in life, exploring our sense of spiritual, emotional and physical aging. We will meditate upon and gain greater insight into how we can grow in confidence, experience and wisdom. Then we’ll shape our reflections on and off the page to share with a wider audience.
