CHANGES AT BETHANY HOUSE
A tribute to Fr. Joe Nooney
This fall Fr. Nooney had surgery in Des Moines, Iowa. As a result of this health issue and the celebration of 87 years of age, Fr. Nooney made the decision to no longer be a part of Bethany House. It is with deep gratitude and sadness that we move through this major change. There is no longer a daily Eucharist -this noon mass served a faithful community of men and women.
Fr. Nooney was a significant presence at BH. He was a person of faithfulness and playfulness, and could challenge us to “grow” and become “more.” He offered workshops on dreams and icons.
His presence gave Bethany House the accountability it needed as this ministry was questioned by many. A house of prayer was a new concept in our area and many ques- tions have surfaced through- out it’s 21 years. He taught us how to be faithful to our traditions and yet open to stand with others in our differences.
Fr. Nooney is missed.
However, BH is more than just one person. We are looking at new ways to expand and grow this ministry. We invite your ideas and encourage all to "Come and See" what we have to offer.
