Beauty

(a poem by Abby)

All Shall Be Provided

God has a wonderful way of using our everyday lives to teach us of His love.

Last week I noticed a rather large looking moth on the window of my garage.  Upon further notice,  I realized that it was a Cecropia Moth.  I thought it was dead but I decided not to touch it.  In researching the habits of this particular moth, I learned that the

female must lay her eggs within 12 hours and then she dies.  I also know that it takes a long time for the wings to dry to enable the moth to fly.

The next morning, I eagerly went to check on my “new friend”.  To my amazement, she was alive and had moved to the floor of my garage.  That afternoon,  I invited Eli  (age 5) to come and see this wonderful creature.  Once again not trusting her stillness,  I gently moved her wings just a bit.  She displayed a lovely set of what looked like eyes within.  I pondered: What shall become of her as the garage doors are usually closed – how could she fly out?

I returned to my daily rhythm.

Later that day, I still had a few plants to tuck into my garden,  so I decided to go outside before sunset to take care of that one last planting.  While cleaning my tools, I discovered I could not find my clippers.  As I entered the other part of the garage to look for my clippers, I heard this flapping sound.  I wondered what was causing this unusual sound. To my surprise, I discovered it was my moth friend trying to get out the garage window.

The time was at hand and she knew her hours were short to accomplish what God had created her for – to give life to others.  I opened the large garage door and immediately she started to slowly move towards the light.  She had a bit of difficulty in using her wings and then she started to fly.  As I watched her soar away, I felt the tears of gratitude gently fall – once again God has gifted me with His presence.
